The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) recently projected a 60% chance of an above-normal Atlantic hurricane season for 2025, warning of heightened storm activity fueled by record-warm ocean temperatures and atmospheric conditions that favor the development of powerful cyclones.
The agency expects between 13 and 19 named storms, of which 6 to 10 are likely to reach hurricane strength, including 3 to 5 major hurricanes classified as Category 3 or higher with winds of at least 111 miles per hour.
